Based in Hull, Eltherington is one of the United Kingdom's largest independently owned aluminium companies. With over 50 years in the industry, Eltherington entered into the trade as pioneers, replacing the use of timber in the fishing industry with aluminium, creating a new market that the company soon gained a reputation for being specialists in. Today, as Hull Esteem Consortium undertakes Hull's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) project on behalf of Hull City Council, the team at Eltherington are keen to bring their expertise to a project of unprecedented size in the city.
Focusing its efforts of architectural aluminium and stainless steel, Eltherington operates in a number of sectors including construction, portable/modular building and the caravan and leisure industry as well as being one of the country's largest stockholders of aluminium products. With clients across the city of Hull and throughout the length and breadth of the country, Eltherington has a wealth of experience on large projects - a trait that the company are keen to use as part of Hull Esteem Consortium's supply chain.
Michael Riding, sales manager at Eltherington, said: "It is very important for local businesses to be given a chance to take on work for the Hull BSF project, as it gives people from the city a chance to be involved in projects that will improve the city on a number of levels. Hull like other UK cities was hit by the recession and this investment will help the city's people and businesses in a positive way.
"If we were to work on these projects, we would use them to highlight our involvement in prestigious local contracts and positively market the strengths in working together with other local businesses.
"It would also help the company in terms of adding to the current workload. Eltherington has been in existence for over 50 years, during which we have experienced the ups and downs of the manufacturing industry, so to be part of something that will help secure local jobs and investment would be incredibly exciting.
"We have had some informal discussions with Sewell Group about the services we could offer to the project, and we are looking to implement the same tried and tested systems that have been used on a number of school and NHS projects, both in Hull with Sewell Group and across the rest of the United Kingdom.?
