ESA Design Ltd

From our beginnings in Hull in 1914, ESA (formerly known as Elsworth Sykes) has grown into an established architecture and design group in the UK. We offer a range of professional services from architecture and design, to CDM coordination, town planning and project management. Everything we do is underpinned by quality thinking and a central focus on what our clients need from us.

The company's reputation has grown with the success it has enjoyed in the educational, civic, healthcare, and industrial sectors in Hull. Experience in these sectors covers both speculative and owner-occupier projects, including fitting out to meet client's bespoke requirements. ESA's track record extends to schools, public buildings, hotels, hostels, residential, sports facilities, retail units, warehousing, research and development and industrial parks, largely in an urban setting.

Our core business is the delivery of excellent architecture and design: buildings and places that contribute to their context, communicate thoroughness and quality in their organisation and construction, and perform for their occupiers. We realise this for our clients by providing the full range of expert skills from feasibility to design, and through construction to occupation.

Regional director, Nigel Waumsley, said: "As architects and designers we place much emphasis on the integration of creative flair with close attention to the brief and awareness of the practical aspects of both construction and use of the building. We strive to design buildings which are not only visually cohesive, but are equally impressive in terms of their performance.

"We have access to and the support of a huge range of professionals which enable us to undertake projects of almost any type and size. Whether projects are large or small, we are committed to providing an excellent quality of service to all our clients."

ESA will soon have had an office in Hull for 100 years, and through the support of local clients and others we introduce to Hull, the company intends to carry on providing services in the city for a lot longer.

"We are very pleased to have been appointed by Hull Esteem Consortium as CDM coordinator for both the sample and phase one schools. This service follows other recent successful local projects we have been involved with at Hull College, Wyke College and East Riding College."

"Being part of the BSF programme is hugely important for ESA locally as it enables us to participate in a transformational project on our doorstep. We're a Hull Bondholder company and are keen to promote Hull and East Yorkshire. A project such as Hull BSF raises the profile of Hull and will hopefully be one of the catalysts for driving Hull's recovery from recession through improved learning, skills, investment, and job creation".
