F R Scott Limited

Formed in 1943, F R Scott Limited is the largest independent ironmongers in the Hull area with over 20,000 items of builders' and architectural ironmongery, fasteners and tools in stock at its 30,000 sq ft warehouse located in the centre of Hull. With a mechanical services department that includes the supply of heating, pipe-work installation and maintenance to commercial and industrial customers, F R Scott is now looking to offer these services to Hull Esteem Consortium, for the Hull BSF programme.

Peter Clark, sales and marketing manager at F R Scott Limited, said: "Being involved with the Hull Esteem Consortium would justify the continued investment we have made in staff training, facilities and stock during this current difficult period.

"We could provide a significant impact on the programme by being able to offer a 'one stop shop' faculty to all contractors on site, with an extensive range of products available on our twice-daily delivery service or at our trade counter. The staff at F R Scott, including registered architectural ironmongers, offer expert service and advice, and our mechanical services department offer full design, installation and breakdown maintenance. All Staff are trained to a high professional standard.

"We have limited experience in working on the BSF programme but historically F R Scott has supplied main contractors and sub-contractors on many major contracts in the area. These include schools, colleges, University of Hull, local NHS trusts, and local government projects. The mechanical services department has provided a wide range of heating services for over 50 years and specialises in commercial mechanical services in schools, colleges, offices and commercial buildings. Much of our work is done for local authorities providing schools and similar government properties with their heating and maintenance.

"At this present moment, becoming involved with the programme would not impact on our workforce as, through these tough economic times, we have been able to retain all our members of staff. If we became involved in the programme it will help us to maintain this policy and possibly increase our numbers as required. All staff employed are local and are trained to any relevant standards required. They also have the opportunity to request any further training they believe will help them improve their performance, which we are happy to encourage and provide them the support needed.

"The short-term effects of gaining contract work on the Hull BSF programme would be to help us maintain our current process of investment and maintaining our current standards of service. The long-term view is that, with more work, we may be able to increasing our employee numbers."
