Vic Coupland Limited

With over 70 years experience in the electrical installation industry, Vic Coupland Limited became part of the Hull Esteem Consortium's HU postcode supply chain after providing its services to the fitting out of the consortium's offices in Hull City Centre, as well as working on the Winifred Holtby & Tweendykes site for the Hull Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

Founded in 1937, Vic Coupland Limited began life trading in electrical contracting for commercial, industrial and marine industries, moving to the manufacture of control equipment following the end of the Second World War.

Today, as well as working for Hull Esteem Consortium, Vic Coupland Limited work as an industrial and commercial contractor, as well as working on domestic properties. The company's commercial work portfolio includes work on offices (including Hull Esteem Consortium's), shops, health authorities and local authorities.

Paul Chapman, contracts design manager at Vic Coupland Limited, said: "We have worked with Hull Esteem Consortium on their offices in the city centre, on the site at Winifred Holtby & Tweendykes and we are also in discussions for future projects in the BSF programme.

"At the Hull Esteem Consortium offices, we assisted with the moving-in process, helping to reconfigure the electrics in the office and workstations. We have also supplied the electrical labour to the Winifred Holtby & Tweendykes project.

"Vic Coupland started working with Sewell Group on the Local Improvement Financial Trust (LIFT) projects in Hull, and it was a natural progression to be involved with the BSF. From being part of the supply chain on both the LIFT and with Hull Esteem Consortium, we have added staff and taken on more apprentices from the Hull area.

"The programme is excellent for Hull on so many levels. It is bringing more labour and money in to the city, and allowing companies like ourselves to hand out local jobs for local people. On top of this, the fact we can bring a number of apprentices on board will provide a number of benefits both today and into the future. As far as Vic Coupland is concerned, being involved with a programme that is regularly in the local media provides us with a wider exposure, which could open doors for us on future projects."
