Warmflooring Ltd UK is part of Elektroplast a/s, an under-floor heating company in Oslo, Norway. Elektroplast group a/s has offices in five countries, and the UK branch was set up in May 2009. Elektroplast a/s was founded 23 years ago, following the development of a 24-volt under-floor heating system ? a system which the company has exclusive rights for on the UK market.
The system is branded under the name 'EP Warmfloor of Norway' in all countries, and is used as total or comfort heating throughout houses, offices, commercial and industrial buildings and in the medicine industry.
Arve Refvik, managing director of Warmflooring Ltd UK, said: "To be a part of Hull Esteem Consortium is very important for us, as we know that we can contribute by saving more energy, improving the carbon footprint for Hull City Council and, of course, saving building costs.
"Our main market worldwide is hospitals, schools, hotels, portable modular buildings and private houses. We are a young company, but with over 20 years experience, we have ambitions to grow from being a new company in the UK to being established in the country. A project as big as Hull Esteem Consortium and the Hull BSF would be an ideal starting point towards our ambitions.
"A contract would see us create new jobs, and we would also consider relocating to a new Hull office, to ensure that any contract is run in the most efficient way possible. The economic side of it is important too, as we are now in the position to grow, and any work carried out for Hull Esteem Consortium would help us to do so.
"With our 24-volt under-floor heating system, we can contribute in four categories. We can provide sustainability, providing an energy solution that will save more energy and carbon. Installation costs, labour costs and time spent during installation will all be much lower through our system.
"As well as this, the material we use, polyethylene, is environmentally friendly, releases no gases, and can be recycled to be used for other purposes. All other materials are water-based and therefore have no health/environmental issues whatsoever. Finally, our systems have very low radiation and magnetism readings ? another benefit to the environment.
"We have only been involved in one big project in England so far, as a part of the students understanding of alternative energy, heating and building technology. We are keen to get into schools to continue the development of this understanding, whilst also providing benefits to the construction industry.
"In the long term, we hope to become involved with other councils and, with a new product on the market like ours, it is the snowball effect that we want. This will hopefully trigger growth towards being a UK-wide supplier of our 24-volt under-floor heating system."
