14.07.10 - Hull Esteem Consortium Offers Advice at Hull College Event

A member of Hull Esteem Consortium’s supply chain is to give a talk about the environmental impact of the Hull Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme at an event held at Hull College on July 20.

The Humber Environmental Network is holding the Sustainable Buildings – Part One event at the college’s Construction Centre of Excellence, welcoming a number of speakers who will give a seminar on the technologies involved in the building process.

Jamie Hillier, from Battle McCarthy, is to present a review of the material selection procedure for the Hull BSF programme. His talk will consider how material selection directly and indirectly impacts the environment and the productivity of students and staff at the schools, once completed.

Jamie’s presentation will cover the specification, source, manufacturers, off-gassing and embodied energy cradle-to-cradle design.

Attendees at the seminar will learn about examples of best practice and how companies can make their premises sustainable from design through to choice of materials, energy and water management systems and regulatory compliance.

Joining Jamie will be representatives from ARC, The University of Hull and Hull College. To register a place, e-mail hen@hull.ac.uk, and you will be sent a confirmation email and directions to the seminar.
