Located in the North East of the city, the school can be found in parkland on Endike off Beverley Road, approximately 10km from the city centre. The school recently celebrated its 75th birthday, and the proposed development will transform Endike Primary into a 21st century school.
The proposals will provide a new school for the main school roll of 315 pupils, plus a 26 place full time equivalent nursery. A future extension of the school to accommodate 420 pupils has also been considered.
The existing building will be demolished, replacing a poor condition building with a smaller, much more efficient building. The decant of the existing school curriculum can be accommodated in the existing school so as to allow partial demolition. This would allow construction of the new build on or near the existing footprint.
The school design has been organised to facilitate a creative curriculum model with a wide variety of spaces, internally and externally. The plans will create a building for Hull rooted in the idea of Hullness. Endike Primary will be a community Beacon building, that respects the collective memory of Endike School and interprets this memory to create a powerful new image and identity.
